Information about Artel stoves
Artel are an Italian manufacturer of wood pellet stoves, and we have been
selling these ourselves in the UK for over 12 years now.
When we began our relationship with Artel, they themselves had only been in
production of the pellet stoves for little over two years, so it was a bit of a
leap of faith for both of us. A decade down the line, all the teething problems have been addressed, and
the reliability of the stoves is excellent.
To the best of our knowledge all of the pellet stove installations we have
done are still going strong. With a little bit of servicing and regular
maintenance, there so far seems to be no limit to the effective life of these
products. We stock all the common spares necessary for stoves that we have sold,
and feel we have the technical expertise to attend to any likely issues with
them. Some of the more bizarre problems we have overcome include Dogs eating t
he room stats, and bats making their way down the flue into the fan housings.
Wood pellets vs conventional stoves.
Wood pellet stoves have many advantages over conventional log burning
1). They light themselves;
Wood pellet stoves are ignited by very hot air , which is sucked into the
brazier full of pellets at the right time to ignite the pellets by a fan in the flue.
The air is heated by passing the air around a heating element similar to that
used in a kettle.
2). They can be set come on and off automatically like central heating;
All our wood pellet stoves are fully programmable, with one on/off setting for
the morning, and one on/off for the afternoon/evening.
The stoves all have an on-board clock. Newer models can also be
connected to mobile phones by means of a separately purchasable dongle.
3). Pellet fuel takes up less space.
Pellet fuel is compressed sawdust basically. And for most stoves a good
guide to a winters use would be 1 metric tonne.
This needs dry storage, but only occupies around 2 cubic meters of space.
The amount of fuel needed to run a conventional log-burning stove through a
winter would need around 3 times this space.
4). They can take the Combustion air directly from outside the home.
This cuts down on draughts caused by air vents in the walls of the room
where a stove is installed.
5). They produce very little ash. With a good quality pellet the ash produced will typically be less than 1% of
the fuel be weight. The ash collectors are small and easily emptied when the
stoves are cold. Many customers simply hoover out the ash.
6).. Overall running a wood pellet stove is significantly easier than keeping a
log stove going. Speaking as a person who likes and runs one of each, I would estimate that
the time necessary to run the Log burner is about 10 times that to keep the
pellet stove going.
The latest addition to the range of Artel stoves that we offer is the Petite.
As its name suggests this stove is smaller than most conventional pellet
stoves, with a height of only 765 mm.
This allows the stove to easily fit within most conventional fireplace openings
In a brick – built British home older than 1920 fireplace openings are usually
around 1.0m sq x 360mm deep
More modern brick homes tend to have slightly smaller openings, but usually
the same 360 depth.
Like all pellet stoves, it lights itself at the touch of a button, and puts itself out
when you press it again.
The stove has a built-in thermostat, which constantly monitors the room
temperature, and can be set to either turn the stove down to its minimum
heat setting once the set room temp is reached, or turn the stove off once
this occurs, relighting automatically once the temperature has fallen.
Although small the running time for this stove with a full load of pellets is still
17 hours on a low heat setting, and 11 hours when full – on.
The stove is essentially the same as the “Easy” model we sell, but the
remote that allows for automatic timed on/off settings has to be bought as an
extra.Every hour, the stove goes automatically through a small self-cleaning
routine, to keep the robust cast iron brazier clear and the fire burning
efficiently. The heat output of this stove is 5.5 kw on high, and 2.5kw at its lowest
setting. It has 5 different power output settings and can be easily turned up of
down according to your needs. The efficiency of the stove is uncompromised by its size, and is between
85.5% and over 89% on high. We hold stocks of this stove in traditional Black , Bordeaux red and Grey, but
also offer a Brown version. All the stoves have a silver/grey door.
We are based in Stockport, England, and we can deliver these stoves on a
pallet to most UK mainland addresses.
